Terms of use

Effective October 11, 2026. By using OpenExposure you agree to these terms.

What OpenExposure is

OpenExposure is a free service that shows where an email, phone number or username appears in public data breaches and on public websites, and helps you lock it down. It only uses information that is already public or that you confirm you own.

Only check yourself

Search only for details that belong to you, or that you have clear permission to check. You must not use OpenExposure to:

We may block searches, pause lookups of a value, or stop access for anyone we believe is misusing the service.

Not for decisions about people

OpenExposure is not a consumer reporting agency, and its results are not consumer reports. Do not use them to decide anything about another person, including employment, credit, insurance, housing or tenancy.

Results can be wrong

Results come from public sources and automated checks. They can be incomplete, out of date, or belong to someone else with the same username. A clean result does not prove your details are safe. OpenExposure gives general safety information, not legal, financial or professional advice.

Links to other sites

Links to other websites open in a new tab. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

Breach alerts

Alerts are free and optional. We do our best to send them quickly, but we cannot promise to catch every breach or deliver every email. You can stop alerts at any time, as described in our Privacy policy.

No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, OpenExposure is not liable for any loss or damage from using, or not being able to use, the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

Changes

We may change the service or these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use the service means you accept the changes.
